The vial is sealed with a cap having a PTFE/silicone septa. The vial is conditioned at 50 o C for 30 min prior to headspace SPME sampling. Vial septa are available in a variety of materials. Septa are selected based on the chemical properties of the sample and the temperature to which the vial will be subjected during the analysis.
